Get the Lantern
A short story full of excitement and colorful characters. In the fantastical mind of Wilhem Johnson—or Wil Psyche in his fantasy—he escapes the confining college stress in a quarantine into a mystical world away from the Closest Planet of the Farthest Galaxy. For his latest venture, Wil and his friends of traveling heroes stumble on a town that is cured of disappearances and abductions. As heroes, as they claim, they found themselves marching down into a dark cave, not prepared for the creatures that lived in that isolating gloom.
“I am free. I am trapped. I go to wild places whenever and however I desire. I’m sick of this world. So, I’ll go to mine instead. I will go on wonderous, impossible adventures with an unusual group of friends. Lately, I’ve been brought to a dark place. I was jabbing and slashing my sword at many savage creatures. I was stumbling, people behind me screaming, and my comrades were having just as much luck as I had. And during the middle of the whole thing, I was bellowing, ‘Get the lantern! Get the lantern!’ … Or as my mind was making it up as I’m incarcerated in my own house.”
